Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a personal chef, private chef and a caterer?
Personal chefs and private chefs are professionals who provide clients with culinary services in the comfort of their homes. A private chef usually works with just one or a few clients and personal chefs work with many Grilled Pork Kebobsclients. Personal and private chefs must prepare and cook the food in the client's kitchen. Caterers use a state-inspected commercial kitchen. A personal chef has a business license and holds a food and safety certificate.

So the food must be prepared in my kitchen?
The Board of Health requires that I use your kitchen since I am not a caterer. The advantage is your home will be filled with the wonderful aromas of the food cooking in your kitchen.

How large of a dinner party can you serve?
We can provide a private, sit-down dinner for a minimum of six people to a maximum of 12 people. For standing cocktail/appetizer parties, we can serve up to 75 people.

What is included in the standard per person price for the seven course meal?
All of the menu-planning, food, shopping, food prep, food service, complete clean-up and trash removal. Sales tax, gratuity, alcohol, corking fee and/or wine consultant and food upgrades are not included.

We’re concerned that a seven course meal is a lot of food and we may not be able to eat all of it. Plan Online Click Here
The courses are very modest in size and I can assure you each course will be enjoyed. The food is served tapas style, which is Spanish for “small bites.”

How long does the seven course meal take to prepare and serve?
I will arrive at your home at 9:00 am to begin food prep and will begin cooking around 4:30 pm. I recommend your guests arrive at 5:30 pm for a selection of appetizers. Dinner is served at 6:30 pm and we usually serve dessert around 10:00 pm. Clean-up is usually finished in about an hour.

Why does the meal take so long to serve?
Our seven course dinner is a traditional, leisurely European-style meal. Each course is explained as it is served. The pace of the meal is slow, easy, enjoyable, relaxing and most of all, memorable.PayPal gladly accepted

Will you serve the seven-course meal to young children?
Generally, no--this type of dinner is not well-suited for young children. The meal takes quite a bit of time to prepare and serve and it is difficult for young children to appreciate. Sixteen years and up is recommended.

Blackened Fish TacosWhat if I want to use your wine consultant for my meal?
If you would like a wine consultant, the corking fee is $175.

What is a tablescape?
A tablescape is an overall look/design that addresses the entire table or surface, as well as its surroundings. The term is used to describe the table top and includes the centerpiece(s), linens, dishes, flatware, glassware, menus, place cards and any other decor. Every item is chosen specifically to complement other items on the table and other elements of the space. A tablescape typically incorporates elements of the season or occasion. A breathtaking tablescape display can set the mood for the entire event.

If I need to change the date of my dinner party, will you accommodate me?
Yes, as long as we have your deposit and signed contract, we will allow you to change the date. If a second date is changed, an additional $175 fee will be needed to change it again.

What forms of payment do you accept?Plan Online Click Here
A bill will be presented to you at the end of the meal, itemizing all charges associated with the meal. We accept checks, cash or credit cards via PayPal. The balance of the payment is expected at the time of service.

What is the minimum number of people for your cooking classes?
Six to a maximum of twelve people is acceptable. More than 12 people becomes unmanageable in a private kitchen.

Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes, we do. Gift certificates are a great way to show you care—new home, special occasion, celebration or appreciation gift. Please refer to the policies page for additional information. To purchase a gift certificate, click here.

How far will you travel to prepare a meal in someone’s home?
I will travel anywhere in the world to cook a meal as long as my expenses are paid. If you are located within a 90 mile drive from Fort Wayne, there is no charge, but a $175 travel and overnight fee will apply to any destination beyond a 90 mile radius from Fort Wayne and the fee will be collected in advance. Destinations by air will be quoted on a case-by-case basis.
